Celebrating 40 years connecting Queensland communities

On Thursday evening ARCH marked a significant milestone in our practice’s history, celebrating 40 years connecting Queensland communities with clients, collaborators, and colleagues at a special event on the rooftop terrace of our Brisbane studio.

What a Night! Celebrating 40 Years Connecting Queensland Communities

To everyone who joined us for our anniversary event on our Brisbane studio rooftop terrace, we hope meeting and chatting with our team provided a deeper insight into the passion and purpose that drive our work every day. From the mergers with Geoff Street and Peter Anderson here in Queensland, to Stephen Cheney joining us in Melbourne in the years that followed, our story has always been about collaboration and growth. What began as Suters Architects has evolved into ARCH, a practice built on trust, talent, and a shared belief in creating places that make a difference.

As current directors and leaders of the practice, Scott Chapple, Michael Hegarty, and Angus Rose extend their gratitude to all who have been part of this journey – the long-standing partnerships, the exceptional talent across the ARCH team, and the remarkable projects that continue to change lives and shape communities for the better.

“The past 40 years have been defined by the people we’ve worked with, clients, communities, and colleagues who share our vision for what architecture can achieve. It’s their trust and collaboration that inspire us to keep pushing boundaries and designing places that truly connect people.” Director Scott Chapple

Thank you to our team who took us on a journey from our “THEN” with David Rose, Stephen Cheney, and Geoff Street, to our “NOW” with Rebecca Plumsted, Adam Prentice, and Felipe Strahovsky, and our “NEXT” with Sean Logue, Maricel Marbus, and Alisa Pigram.

A heartfelt thank you to the incredible businesses and individuals who helped make our celebration truly unforgettable: Mike Tyler  whose roving magic, with cards, coins, fire, and even borrowed items, astonished and delighted guests right before their eyes. Turrbal Dippil and Aunty Kathy for their generous Welcome to Country, grounding the evening in respect and connection to place, photographer Kirsten Cox whose talent and professionalism beautifully captured the spirit and energy of the night, Jamie Fraser and the team at Sage on Ann for the exceptional food, 160 Degrees for our magical "birthday" cake, and the fabulous roof terrace, Bellview9 Wesley House, whose stunning rooftop terrace provided the perfect setting for a night to remember.

As we look ahead, ARCH remains committed to shaping spaces that serve, inspire, and connect people – continuing a legacy that will grow even stronger in the decades to come. We look forward to greeting you at our next event.
