Elements of Toronto
Private dwellings in a bushland retreat
Elements of Toronto is a retirement community comprising 55 individual dwellings and a community centre adjacent to Toronto Workers Club and its bowling greens. Dwellings are modern, fully accessible and have their own private outdoor living space, open-plan kitchen and living areas opening onto north-facing terraces. Clerestory windows and cathedral ceilings bring light deep into the interior and enhance the sense of spaciousness.
There are 10 three bedroom and 15 two bedroom plus study dwellings both with double attached garages, and 30 two bedroom dwellings with single attached garage on the site. The dwellings are designed to take full advantage of their particular orientation, maximising solar access and amenity. The community centre opens to a large green space and natural bushland to the north of the site. It contains consulting rooms, an administration office, library, kitchen and a spacious, flexible lounge area with clerestory windows and cathedral ceiling that opens onto a large covered terrace. The development is highly pedestrian orientated and accessible, with strong connections to the surrounding bushland, the street and the club itself.
