CSIRO Solar Tower

Expressing progressive solar research through powerful innovative design

The CSIRO Solar Tower project by ARCH forms a part of the new Solar Energy Research Facility at the CSIRO’s Energy Centre in Newcastle. The tower supports a solar reactor that is held over an array of 200 mirrors.

Temperatures within the reactor can reach in excess of 1000c degrees and generate up to 500kW of energy. The design of the tower reflects the innovative use of technology through a dynamic shape and use of materials.

In collaboration with the client and engineers, the solution developed by ARCH gives a visual edge to the progressive nature of the research being undertaken.
