Bupa St Ives
Modern, inviting design with efficient staffing layouts, private ensuites, and sunny communal spaces, prioritising resident comfort and sustainability
Bupa’s St Ives Aged Care comprises a new facilities centre flanked by two residential buildings, establishing a gateway corner building. A porte cochere and covered walkways tie together the west and east wings creating a legible and welcoming entry. ARCH's unified, sensitively scaled building provides a high quality residential character, presenting as a contemporary, appealing place to live and work.
The facility has two aged care zones plus a high care dementia specific zone. The planning provides excellent efficiency for staffing and travel distances within the facility. Resident’s comfort is a high priority, so all rooms have individual ensuites and direct outlook to external garden spaces. Lounge areas at the end of both residential wings are collocated with group activity spaces or services such as café, hairdresser, etc. Communal spaces are oriented north; affording excellent solar penetration and natural light; creating friendly, cheerful gathering spaces. This approach reduces reliance on artificial lighting, heating and cooling to result in energy savings and lower operating costs.
