Brisbane Markets
Southgate East

A multi-tenanted coldroom facility designed to best practice standards, suiting the needs of both Tenant and Landlord

Brisbane Markets in Rocklea is Queensland’s only central fruit and vegetable market.

The market is the state’s most important centre for the marketing and distribution of fresh fruit and vegetables. It records annual trade in excess of 600,000 tonnes of produce valued at more than $1 billion. ARCH's brief was to design facilities and infrastructure that meet the complex and interconnected demands of fruit and vegetable wholesalers, retailers, provedores, secondary wholesalers, food processors, transporters, exporters, industry organisations and market support businesses.

Most important is the delivery of an efficient logistics and marketing solution that provides extensive exposure of produce in one location.

ARCH were engaged by the Brisbane Markets initially to provide masterplanning and conceptual design services to optimise the potential of an existing greenfield site. Our work includes determining the maximum potential development of the site and required expert understanding of all aspects of the supply chain. The outcome provides 14,500sqm of cool room warehousing for multiple tenants and 1,100sqm of associated commercial tenancy space.
