Patterson Lakes Community Centre

Inspiration was sought from within the local area and its history and in particular the Patterson River itself.

Patterson Lakes Community Centre and Library is a thriving multi-use, flexible community facility featuring both library and learning facilities. This major redevelopment includes new halls, office facilities, and a complete refurbishment of the existing building.

The drab original 1980s building is reinvented by ARCH into a quality contemporary facility with strong community appeal.  The local community benefits form an innovative mix of spaces that cater for diverse ages and backgrounds with facilities such as new meeting rooms, multipurpose room, foyer gathering space, community lounge and a flexible childcare facility.

The dynamic colour palette uses red and blue, with red the dominant theme through the community centre and blue the dominant theme through the library. Binding this together is a stylised river, based on the geographic form of the Patterson River, which runs through the facility in the flooring design, capturing both the red and blue themes.
